While Putin Bombs Syrian Civilians, IS Expands Territorial Gains

After heavy clashes between IS and the Syrian army, IS jihadists brought the strategic town of Khanasre under its full control, local media reported. While Putin bombs Syrian civilians, IS expands territorial gains.

With Russia bombing the moderate Free Syrian Army positions, only the Islamists and ISIS Russia has yet to concentrate its fire power against are left roaming free. 

IS jihadists carried out deadly attacks on the suburb areas of Aleppo on February 23rd to control the routes through which military logistics are delivered to the Syrian army in Aleppo.

Besides controlling the town of Khanasre, IS jihadists captured a number of towns and villages including Shalala, Taweela, Hawaz, Rwahib, Rahib, Rasmulhamd and Qarh located between Khanasre town and Safeera city in Eastern Aleppo.

Syrian army launched an operation to liberate the areas near Aleppo three weeks ago and made vast advances near Aleppo; but started backing off on Tuesday, February 23rd.

The Syrian civil war, which began with peaceful protesters marching against the terror and the tyranny of the Assad regime, has cost already 470,000 according to the latest and most accurate figures published by the New York Times.
