We have come to understand the perfected spin cycle of Mr. Obama very well the last few years. It really follows two laws of physics: If it is up make it soar, and if it is down make it float.
The best example of this comes alive in the numbers of Americans fighting for ISIS this administration provided. Last Wednesday, while our own Secretary of Defense was addressing the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, he said:
“We are aware of over 100 U.S. citizens who have U.S. passports who are fighting in the Middle East with ISIL forces. There may be more. We don’t know.”
Since, the Obama Administration issued a clarification, in other words the spin cycle kicked in, that only a dozen Americans have joined ISIS and the rest it distributed amongst the different factions fighting the Assad regime.
From Secretary Hagel who claimed that over 100 Americans are fighting for ISIS to a White House spinning it to a dozen Americans may be fighting for ISIS.
If it is down, make it float.
In my humble opinion, the original numbers provided are as accurate as the anti-Muslim video that sparked the attack on the US Embassy in Benghazi. This administration will never tell you the truth even if the bad news kicked you in the face. We have come to accept it from the most transparent President we ever had.
In my humble opinion, there are probably three times more Americans fighting for ISIS. Why would I make such claim? Too many Facebook pages neglected over a long period by Syrian-Europeans I know from Homs, Idlib, Hama, and other towns who probably could stand it no more to see their next of kin starved to death or their mothers hunted like animals by IRGC snipers. These kind of horrors turn liberals and devout Muslims into ferocious respondents.
One has to assume Syrian-Americans fighting are following as steep a trajectory.
Why would this administration’s spin cycle make the numbers float? Because Mr. Obama finally realizes the folly of his Syrian policy that everyone warned him will come back to haunt us. He finally realizes the danger to American lives when these folks come back home. He finally realizes that he stands alone, ever so stubborn and ever so wrong on Syria. However, he will only admit his mistake by spinning some more.
Do you think if the US foils a suicide attempt by any of the returnees, this White House would tell us the truth? Do not bet on it.
