Canadian novelist Douglas Coupland once wrote that “Brain research tells us that only twenty percent of human beings have a sense of irony, which means that eighty percent of the world takes everything at face value”.

Some don’t have a smidgen of irony.

For those of us blessed with such a brain, irony or a smidgen of irony is like stoking a fire to harmonize the beat of our hearts. More than water to the thirsty, irony is one’s charming civility whose aim is to strip others from their civility. Winston Churchill once quipped to an ugly woman accusing him of drunkenness “My dear you are ugly… but tomorrow I should be sober”. Oh! That charming civility.

It is ironic, therefore, that Mr. Obama finds himself in a bit of a jam over the dismantlement and removal of Assad’s CW’s. That September 2013 agreement, involving Putin of Russia, Mr. Obama hailed for its expediency and importance is in total disarray. That Assad never intended to honor it Mr. Obama knew too well, but since 80% of the American people will miss its irony, his losses are containable. As far as he is concerned, it is far worse to punish Assad.

If you recall, at the time, the CW’s agreement was the result of a denouement of a Broadway theater where Mr. Obama could not make-up his mind on what to do with Syria. He hopped like a rabbit by bouncing the decision to attack Assad from himself, to Congress, back to himself, and finally he threw that red hot potato into Putin’s lap. After his agreement with Putin, Obama said: “There are consequences should the Assad regime not comply with the framework agreed today. And, if diplomacy fails, the United States remains prepared to act”.

Hail to the Commander-in-Chief for yet another lie he thinks the American public is too dumb to remember. “The Book of Lies of Barack Obama”, if it publishes, may yet become a roadmap for any future leader on how to avoid Obama’s future. In fact, I am starting to doubt every word uttered by Mr. Obama. How could I trust my own President when he gets caught lying and continues to lie as if he was never caught?

If only I saved a dime every time this president referenced the words “There are consequences”. Only US allies truly suffer the consequences of Obama.

Now consider this new Syria fiasco within the context of the Obama-Iran Deal. Do you have any doubt that the consequences Iran will face are the exact image of the consequences Assad is facing in Syria today? Irony 20/80 again.  Did you see that missile fired from the Sixth Fleet off the coast of Syria? Finally, not only Assad, but Obama is about to take Obama more seriously.

Since Reuters broke the 4.1% story 12 hours after Mr. Obama announced to 33 million Americans “American diplomacy, backed by the threat of force, is why Syria’s chemical weapons are being eliminated. (Applause.)” All the president has done is have his own State Department denounce it publicly and Secretary Kerry press the Russians for a solution. No one is laughing harder than Putin today.

Incidentally, we certainly would not want to be a US Congressman applauding at that moment never knowing whether we are being lied to and being made a fool by our own President. Mr. Obama knew that only 4.1% of Assad’s CW’s are out of his hands because the Assad regime began bargaining for anti-IED vehicles in return for CW’s the moment Obama backed down on attacking Assad.

Iran wants to study the vehicles to create more lethal IED’s and it would not surprise us if Mr. Obama acquiesces secretly to Assad’s demand just so he can claim a small victory in his 2015 State of the Union address.

Can you imagine the terrorist Assad asking President Bush for anything? America has become a “Complaint Box” for our allies and a “Free Shopping Cart” to our enemies. Meanwhile, Mr. Obama pretends his policies are working because his obsessive desire to do the opposite of what George W. Bush did is fogging his brain.
